People in Coventry are being invited to hear from Christian Aid staff and partners from South Sudan at Queen's Road Baptist Church on Thursday 15 October.

The event starts at 7pm and is part of the charity's autumn roadshow, bringing churches and supporters together to learn about the experiences of communities in South Sudan.

Speakers will discuss the challenges posed by conflict and the climate crisis, as well as the work of local organisations responding to emergencies and supporting lasting change.

Speakers visiting Coventry

Angelina Nyajima Simon Jial, founder and director of Hope Restoration South Sudan, will speak about her organisation's work with women and girls affected by gender-based violence.

She will discuss the importance of locally led change and how churches can support communities working for justice and hope.

James Wani, Christian Aid's Programme and Partnership Lead in South Sudan, will also take part. His contribution will focus on the role of churches and collective action in creating change.

Christian Aid said its local partners work alongside communities to help them respond to emergencies, build resilience and develop sustainable ways forward.

How to attend

The roadshow visits locations across England, with Coventry hosting the group before a further event at Lancaster Priory on 16 October.

Lisa Britto, a Church Engagement and Fundraising Advisor at Christian Aid, said the events offered an opportunity to meet other supporters and hear directly from partners about their projects.

She encouraged anyone interested in learning more to register for a place through the charity's website.

Registration information and the roadshow programme are available on the Christian Aid Autumn Roadshow page.
